It’s one of those sad things. Within a year of the Flip’s original release, it was clear that these cameras were cool, but were going to be integrated into devices we were already carrying around. Cisco purchased Pure Digital well after the writing was on the wall.
Cisco purchasing Pure Digital Technologies never really made sense to me two years ago when I covered it for Ars Technica. Pink slips are never good news, but the Flip was a neat idea. Hopefully those folks can go on to do other neat things.
